The Oliva Serie V Liga Especial Lancero 7×38 is a powerful and highly concentrated premium cigar created for experienced smokers who appreciate the traditional long, slender Lancero format.

Handmade in Nicaragua, Serie V uses a complex blend of Nicaraguan long-filler tobaccos, including specially fermented Jalapa Valley Ligero. The filler is secured by a Nicaraguan binder and finished with a high-priming Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper.

The high-priming wrapper develops deeper color, greater oil content, and a stronger flavor concentration than leaves harvested from lower sections of the tobacco plant. Although its reddish-brown color is sometimes described as Colorado Maduro, the Oliva Serie V Lancero is not officially presented as a separate Maduro cigar.

The specially fermented Jalapa Valley Ligero gives the blend much of its strength, spice, and dense tobacco character. The Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper contributes additional richness while playing a particularly noticeable role because of the Lancero’s narrow ring gauge.

Its flavor profile centers on rich coffee, dark chocolate, earth, leather, cedar, and balanced spice. Additional impressions may include espresso, black pepper, toasted nuts, nutmeg, pistachio, and chocolate-covered almonds.

The Lancero format measures 7 inches with a 38 ring gauge, creating a higher wrapper-to-filler ratio than thicker cigars. This gives the cigar a more focused and wrapper-driven flavor while requiring a slower smoking pace to prevent overheating.

Tobacco Composition

Wrapper

The cigar is finished with a high-priming Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper. This darker, oily wrapper contributes coffee, chocolate, cedar, spice, and natural tobacco sweetness.

Its color may be described as Colorado Maduro, but this refers to its reddish, medium-dark brown appearance. It should not be confused with the separate Oliva Serie V Maduro or Serie V Melanio Maduro blends.

Binder

The Nicaraguan binder supports the cigar’s construction while contributing earth, strength, and woody tobacco character.

Filler

The filler is a complex combination of Nicaraguan long-filler tobaccos blended with specially fermented Ligero from Nicaragua’s Jalapa Valley.

Jalapa Valley Ligero

Ligero is harvested from the upper section of the tobacco plant, where greater sunlight produces thicker and more flavorful leaves. The specially fermented Jalapa Ligero provides strength, pepper, earth, and concentrated tobacco richness.

Why Choose This Cigar?

The Oliva Serie V Liga Especial Lancero offers the powerful Serie V blend in one of the most demanding and flavor-focused cigar formats.

Its narrow 38 ring gauge creates a higher proportion of wrapper tobacco in every draw. This allows the Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper to influence the profile more strongly than it would in a thicker Robusto, Toro, or Gordo.

Specially fermented Jalapa Valley Ligero provides strength and depth, while the Nicaraguan binder and long fillers contribute earth, leather, coffee, and spice. The result is full-bodied but balanced when smoked at a controlled pace.

Its 94-point rating and No. 6 placement in Cigar Aficionado’s 2019 rankings also make it a recognized choice for smokers seeking an acclaimed Nicaraguan Lancero.

Cutting and Lighting Guidance

Use a sharp straight cutter to remove only a small portion of the cap. Because the cigar has a narrow 38 ring gauge, an excessively deep cut can loosen the wrapper or damage its structure.

Toast the foot gradually with a soft flame or single-flame torch lighter. Rotate the cigar while applying heat to establish an even ignition across the narrow foot.

Smoking Guidance

Smoke the Oliva Serie V Lancero slowly with gentle draws. Allow approximately 45–60 seconds between puffs to prevent the slender cigar from overheating.

The 7-inch length provides a long flavor progression, but the narrow ring gauge makes smoking speed particularly important. If the wrapper becomes hot or the flavor turns sharp, allow the cigar to rest before continuing.

Storage Instructions

Store the cigars inside a properly maintained humidor at approximately 65–70% relative humidity and a stable, cool temperature.

Keep the box away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture, and strong surrounding odors. The individual cellophane sleeves may be left in place during storage to protect the delicate Lancero wrappers.
